I Napped
I napped
with a cat curled against my back,
with a pillow cushioning my knees,
with another cradling my cheek,
caught in the undertow of sleep.
I napped
with a book set in my lap,
with my glasses marking the place
where I read of a mysterious case
that my mind proceeded to chase.
I napped
and jump into the gap
between reality and dreams
where sunlight beams and monsters scream,
where whimsical schemes reign supreme.
